Abstract: | The following work concerns itself with the reconditioning of a Limestone Epitaph at the Nikolaifriedhof in Gorlitz/Saxony. Origin and history of the slab preserved in several fragments are to a large extent unknown and are accompanying to the practical work more near to be lit up. After the allocation and safety devices of all discoverable parts belonging to the object, the cleaning of these takes place. A method is to be selected, which is practical as well as cost‐technically easy to transfer on subsequent objects. The fragments are again assembled in a selected procedure with technologically meaningful sticking material. For fixation the construction of a steel clasp at the back offers an additional stabilization. Now, by joining the splices, the preservative sealing of the surface takes place. To find out about the grade of defects to be completed, a discussion of versions is necessary. It is accompanied and illustrated at the stone appropriate clay models. The choice of the requested material is made on the basis of petrographic investigations to the type of rock. In addition the available "Silesian Sandstone" is to be characterised more exactly and be given referring to an approximate origin on the basis of cross‐section samples. The final practical measures concern the attachment of the Epitaph plate at the external wall of the Nikolai Church in Gorlitz. With a concept provided for it the thesis closes. |
