Overview:

Abstract: The former monastery formed for over 300 years the local picture of the village of Kirchheim. Destroyed by fire, today only small remnants testify of the former precincts. The preservation of these remnants as an essential part of the history of village therefor is paramount.
One problem thereby is that large parts of the remnants are made of a particular kind of sandstone, which is particularly susceptible to weathering. Lack of care and agricultural use over several centuries, resulted in massive damage to the fabric. Due to unresolved questions of ownership, the measures to be undertaken are confined for the time being to the safeguarding of the said remnants.
