Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the examination of large-sized graphics belonging to the library of the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum Hildesheim. The paper and the printed graphics will be described and classified time-wise involving the papermaking and printing technique history. These outcomes taken from the literature will be connected with the results from a paper examination.
A colour change was discovered on the large sized sheets, which was examined visually, chemically and microbiologically. After the visual examination the colour change is associated with similar phenomena found in the literature. In the course of this thesis the methods of examination and their results will be described. Based on them and as goal of this thesis a concept for a rearrangement will be presented with a closer look on the climate conditions and the choice of materials. The dry cleaning of the sheets before the relocation will also be discussed in this work. This will be done in correlation with the results of the microbiological examinations. In conclusion an alternative solution for the rearrangement of the objects will be presented.
