Abstract: | This report describes the conservation of a "Swanskin" fan, that was brought back to Weimar by Dutchess Anna Amalia as a souvenir from an Italian journey in 1789. Having been put back together improperly during a past conservation treatment, emphasis was given to re-establishing the original construction of the fan. Additionally, an investigation examines the use of a solvent for the removal of PVA adhesive, and furthermore establishes a suitable adhesive to stabilise the ivory structure within the frame of the fan |
