Abstract: | During the Middle Ages the bog iron ore was smelted for the iron production and was used as a masonry dressed stone for sacred and profane buildings. Today the stone shows increasingly serious damages caused by weathering. A stone replacing mortar on a mineral basis had been developed within the scope of my thesis. Considered is exclusively the variety "concretion", which shows a strong weathering phenomenon. The physical characteristic values are determined complicating an evaluation due to its extreme scattering ranges. Furthermore the appearance of the damage and the necessary curatorial pretreatment is described. A comparison is drawn between the lime-cement-mortar and mortar on the basis of Syton X30. Their physical properties and its optical appearance are harmonized with the stone. |
