Zusammenfassung: The chinoiserie-folding screen of the Goslar Museum which probably dates back to the second half of the 18th century and which can stylistically be assigned to rococo is a painted canvas, which is clamped onto a timber-frame construction. The identification, the history of the object and the art historical classification are explained. This is followed by the presentation of the results of the technological analyses and the description of the state of preservation of the timbers, of the textile covering and of the several layers of the painting. The theoretical reflection concerning scientific principles of the aesthetics and the function, support and justify the standard practice of the planning and the realisation of the concept of preservation. Furthermore you find the description of the concept of restoration, the preventive measures as well as details on the storage in a depot. The subject matter is concluded by the fractional realisation of the concept of preservation.
