Zusammenfassung: The two entrance gates of the Vienna Scots church are made of wood and covered with painted wrought iron on both sides. These masterpieces of early baroque blacksmithing were made between 1645 and 1648 by two Upper Austrian locksmiths. In addition to an art-historical analysis of the objects, the focus of the thesis lays on reviewing their restoration history. Over the centuries, the gates have been revised and repainted several times. The original composition is clarified as bicoloured in the course of a comprehensive conservatoryrestorative survey. This is based on optical investigations and scientific analyses and forms the groundwork for the development of a concept for conservation. This is implemented on the south gate of the church and additionally serves as the basis for the planned restoration of the west gate.
