Zusammenfassung: | This primary assessment involved a comprehensive investigation of the interior decorations in 19 selected brick temples built in Cambodia during the Khmer Empire in the 9th and 10th century. The results of this examination showed that the brick walls were originally decorated with wall paintings. The colours used were red, black, white and yellow. Main focus of the investigation concerned the technical examination and documentation of the condition of the temples of Preah Ko, Prasat Thom and Prasat Neang Khmau in order to prepare proposals for future preservation. Some of the patterns were reconstructed and compared with the outer stucco and stone decoration. The information revealed in this survey has resulted in a deeper understanding of Khmer art. |
