Zusammenfassung: The aim of this Master-Thesis was to deal with a research project which took place about 19 years ago, entitled: "A model conservation concept for environmentally damaged precious enamels in the Green Vault in Dresden". Partners in the research project were at the time the State Art Collections (SKD, Grünes Gewölbe, Dresden), the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research (ISC, Würzburg) and the Federal Institute for Material Research and Testing (BAM, Berlin). The project was focused inter alia on the problematic of pollutants inside the museum. One of the project’s results was the development of a special consolidant for structural damaged enamels called enamel-Ormocer® and the re-designing of the exhibition. The ensuing current research project (2015-2018) can already provide initial positive assessments of the measures taken at the time. Furthermore, the Fraunhofer ISC developed a quality-assured process for the synthesis of this complex consolidant, a step which had become imperative after quality fluctuations. This new synthesis was experimentally tested in the restoration workshop of the Green Vault to further optimise its properties for application on enamels. This testing was done partly in the context of this thesis.
