Zusammenfassung: | The church “Liebfrauenkirche” in the city of Arnstadt is an important example for the art of medieval constructions in this area. It was built in the Roman‐Gothic transitional period from about 1180 to 1330. Because of this, you can find Roman characteristics as well as Gothic characteristics all over the church. The building consists mostly of limestone and is a basilica with three aisles. Two of the peculiarities of the church are, firstly that the bell tower is located on top of the first bay of the nave and secondly that there is an outer ambulatory. Object of this diploma was to include all materials and damages and to create a concept of measures by using the drawn maps with the different types of decay. Beside the common types of decay, do here some others exist caused by destructions through the Second World War. Different possibilities and concepts for conservation were discussed. All results are shown in the recommendations and the method statement. |
