| Zusammenfassung: | This restoration project concerns a royal throne from the Cameroon grassland in form of a male figure, which consists of different materials. It is carved out of wood, it has a dark brown varnish and it is treated with Camwood. The sculpture is partly covered with human hair, copper sheet and glass pearls. The object has to be brought into a condition, in which it can be loaned and exhibited. In the following, the different steps of restoration such as the examination of constancy and condition, the analysis of the damages and their causes, the preparation of a conservation plan as well as the listing of all conducted conservatory measures aimed at saving all materials of the object and their connection among each other will be listed. The examination and research have revealed new and important insights into the original appearance of the object, which contradict the hitherto existing state of research and which require a re‐evaluation of the history of the sculpture. |
