| Zusammenfassung: | The main aspect of this Master-Thesis is the search for ways to treat archaeological mass-finds. Treatments and materials deemed appropriate have been tested on parts of such a find, which was made in the year 2006 during an excavation in Erfurt. While the increasing importance of mass-finds and the special properties of glass are introduced, the focus is placed on depicting common methods of analysing, restoring and conserving glass objects. Always considering the special requirements of glass, some attempts are made to optimise these methods for mass processing. The formulated treatments rely mostly on Cloisil A18, a relatively new substance designed to consolidate fine cracks in glass surfaces. Designing and executing of the treatments took place in the restoration workshop of the Museum für Ur- und Frühgeschichte in Weimar (Thuringia). |
