Zusammenfassung: The subject of this Bachelor-T hesis is a japanese hanging scroll painting from 1900, privately owned, with a representation of the japanese prince Shōtoku Taishi. The present work deals with the possible ways of its preservation. The causes of damage due to copper corrosion and pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes on paper are discussed in detail. These common damage patterns are an essential challenge in the field of paper restoration. On that basis, different approaches to restoration dealing with these problems, are compared. Current research, including international literature, is involved. In addition, test series for the treatment of color changes by adhesive tapes are created. These are the fundamentals to create a concept for the conservation and restoration of the forementioned scroll painting. Since, due to its complexity, the object can not be fully covered, this work is based on selected sub-areas. However, it still provides an outlook for further restoration.
