Zusammenfassung: | The subject of this master´s thesis is the theoretical and practical examination of the reverse glass painting G 2632 belonging to the Staatlisches Museum Schwerin, Germany. What is particularly intriguing about the object are the diverse time periods represented in the individual panes which make up the object in its current condition. The technical analysis examines the construction, the design, and the historical development of the object. The detection of damage and its causes forms the basis of the concept development for conservation and restoration. Possible concepts are herein developed and discussed. The focus herein is securing the highly damaged and at-risk original paintlayer. Conservation and restoration methods are based on the fact that this object is exhibited the permanent exhibit of the Kulturhistorisches Museum Rostock, Germany. Selected methods were tested in test series and in pattern axes and then applied to the object. |
