Zusammenfassung: | The block excavation from Apensen (rural district of Stade), laid open during the course of this Master-Thesis,is to be documented, besides traditional methods such as photography, drawing and mapping, with the surface scanning method ´´Reflectance Transformation Imaging´´(RTI). With this method, the surface appears three-dimensionally through the possibility of applying virtual lighting afterwards. In contrast to conventional photography, structures and surface phenomena can be highlighted and enhanced with the aid of additional filters. The new possibilities provided by this method as well as its limits will be discussed. A solution approach has been developed to document surfaces inside of a vessel with RTI without causing calculation errors due to shadow-casting. Another major part of this thesis addresses the documentation of the block excavation as well as developing a concept of treatment for the excavated urn and the grave goods. |
