Zusammenfassung: | The four panels of the Passion of Christ cycle from the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts dates from ca. 1640/50 are the subject of this article. The unique aspects of the relief intarsia from Eger are discussed in depth as well as the Art historical research on the Passion of Christ cycle. It becomes clear that the Berlin panels are of the highest artistic quality. The second part of the article deals with the development of a conservation strategy and its' application on the relief panel depicting the crucifixion of Christ. The construction of the underlying substrate panels and the cleaning of the relief carved intarsia are the priorities of the treatment. |
