Zusammenfassung: | Subject matter of this work is one of the three existing mechanical hammer of the hammer forge in the Jernverksmuseum in southern Norway. The museum houses the only remaining, nearly fully-preserved ironworks of Norway and therefore, today, represents three centuries of Norwegian ironworks. It possesses a unique cultural landscape that has not been changed for the last 150 years. The continuing decomposition in the field of hammer constructions since the close-down in 1959, are described and analyzed by looking at the example of shindling hammer. A major aspect here is the choice of a suitable diagnostic routine for ancient wood constructions, which have already been dismantled by destructive organisms. The possibilities of the preservation of the construction and their realizations are developed, taking into account the consideration of composition, the functioning and condition of the hammer construction as well as the historical background. |
