Organs are constructed from combinations of metal, wood and leather. Within the restoration of organs, the chemical interaction between the combined materials is an important issue, because of their damages to the materials. For that reason does this thesis explain the chemical interaction of metals when combined with other metals or with wood or leather. Probable restoration solutions and precautions are discussed. Literature and practise-studies show that especially moisture and acids cause damaging chemical interaction between the materials. Their causes and consequences are described in detail. It became apparent as well that undamaged separation of materials is key to enable appropriate measures for restoration and conservation. To avoid damages a stable and pollutant-free climate of the organ´s environment is demanded.
