Overview:

Abstract: Topic of the diploma thesis is the mural painting "The Last Judgment" of the St. Jacobi Church of Stendal. Due to several influences, arising from the manufacturing techniques, environmental conditions and mechanical strains, the 32-sqm mural painting has already been highly fragmented in parts and has a considerable risk of further losses. The scientific-practical part aims to work out a concept for the conservation and restoration of the mural painting, after examining the stock and condition accurately. The scientific-theoretical part deals with presentation opportunities of the fragmentarily conserved lower area of the mural painting.
