Abstract: The wind turbine in the village Libbenichen was built in 1926 not far from Frankfurt / Oder. It is one of the last wind turbine that is left from the early period of generating electricity by wind power. With its help the farmer was able to generate his own power and to participate in the innovation driven by electricity. It was the time when central power supply in the villages of the rural areas was hurried along. After 50 years of standstill and decay the wind turbine is now planed to be preserved. On this behalf, the contermporary and historic status of the wind power station in described by text and images. Furthermore the wind turbine is put into historic perspective. After developing a vision of a future status that would do justice to the historical monument possibilities of its realization are being offered.
