Abstract: This work deals with investigations of one of the mummy masks out of a collection of Mister Friedrich Gütte which consist of totally 12 masks. Besides other findings concerning Egyptian mask techology the technological investigations revealed traces giving evidence of ritual usage of the mask. The results are discussed in the context of contemporary research concerning the subject. A second focus of the work concerns examination of the condition the mask is in. It was compared with the condition of the other masks of the Gütte collection. Based upon this investigation a number of conservation methods is proposed which can be valuable of the whole collection as well.
