Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The stock of the hutch chests of Henndorf signifies an impressive accumulation of more than 100 painted chests, unique in Europe. These chests, situated in the attic of the fortified church in Henndorf and left behind by the disappearing Transilvanian Saxons, are overseen for app. ten years by the Department of Restoration and Conservation of furniture HAWK Hildesheim. Since 2003, the ensemble was deciphered, examined and partly conserved in annual conservation campaigns. In the meantime, several student research projects about different aspects referring to the Henndorf chests were written.
The intention of this master thesis is to summarise and interpret the results of the student works in a concluding way and add missing parts. With this résumé which covers all aspects, summarising the complexity of such a unique project in one document to be able to finally present the results to special readers is supposed to be the successful outcome.
