Charlotte Neumeyer: Algae on historic fountains – Analyses of inhibition of phototropic microorganisms on marble surfaces in circulating watersystems back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Algae are causing esthetic deterioration on fountains. Preventive treatments to inhibit their growth are analysed, while the effect of the algal growth on the fountains will not be analysed. Two different biocide-free treatments to reduce algal upgrowth were selected. Their effectiveness were assayed in an experimantal set-up simulating a fountain on marble plates. The MOL®LIK-treatment decelerated the algal growth. The chemical phosphate elimination with FerroSorp® GW did not show an effect in this experimantal set-up. Instead it stimulated algal upgrowth.
