Karen Riemann: The choir stalls from 1537 of the church at Tobsdorf (Transylvania/Romania. An analysis of the carved decoration back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The present paper deals with the late Gothic ornamentation of Transylvanian choir stalls. Two choir stalls from Tobsdorf are the centre of attention; two more choir stalls from different places serve as objects of reference. One of the reference objects has a signature of Johannes Reychmut who is meant to be a master craftsman of the mentioned region. The aim of this dissertation is to find similarities between the different choir stalls which could justify an ascription of the choir stalls from Tobsdorf to Johannes Reychmut. For this purpose a systematic system to compare the different ornaments is developed.
