Abstract: The subject of the diploma thesis are the examination of a canvas painting from the 19th century from the Stadt-und Heimatmuseum Rötha, the formulation of a conservation-concept and its practical implementation.
The main damages are compressions in the paint layer as a result of a water damage, deformations, tears and a cut-out piece in the lower paint area.
The fragile state requires urgent conservatory measures. In the sense of an overall concept, necessary an possible conservation and restoration measures beyond the diploma period, are discussed.
