Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The subject of this thesis is a 276 m long and 24, 7 m high arched bridge consisting of stone- and brickwork. This building is part of the railroad over the Semmering, which belongs to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. This viaduct is running over the valley of the river Schwarza and because of its functional context it represents an important industrial monument of the 19th century in Austria, which is already in use. The building is exposed to high stress as a result of its position and use. The damages arising from the exposure concern the whole building structure. A concept for a conservation treatment is developed based on the physical analyses and condition survey. The key aspects of this survey include making model areas for restoration also for a construction firm.
