Roxanne Schindler: A mechanical Theater of the Passion of the Christ from the Silesian Town of Glatz - Scientific research, Conservation, Restauration back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The mechanical “Passionstheater” of the Silesian town of Glatz dates from the 19th century. The partly moveable figures bring the Passion of Christ to life in 20 scenes. The interaction of the variety of materials is demonstrated in the complex damage patterns. One problem was the soiling and the resulting loss of legibility. In addition, parts are damaged or have been lost. After the surfaces were cleaned, the piece was glued, completed and retouched. The exhibition place will be the St Jacobs’ Chapel of the Catholic parish Church.
