Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The collection Albrecht Haupt the „Technische Informationsbibliothek und Universitätsbibliothek
Hannover“(German National Library of Science and Technology/University Library Hannover) includes, among others, 6,800 single graphical sheets which offer a wide historical and artistic variety. The indexing of such graphic print collections requires a high expenditure of time and costs due to the variety of techniques.
The aim of this work is to simplify the indexing of these single graphical sheets by demonstrating efficient ways to identify the printing techniques. The importance of the collection is discussed and the problems associated with an indexing are examined. Due to the time frame this work will be limited to intaglio printing. These take up a large share of the collection and include a wide range of techniques. The working methods are tested on the graphics of the collection. Finally, the results of the practical applications are presented and the methods of determination critically evaluated.
