Lutz Strobach: Polymat 80 C – A sounding museal object back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The jukebox Polyhymat 80 C was produced in 1963 in the GDR.
Many plastics in the jukebox have deteriorated strongly after only a few decades.
The oxygen free storage and the consolidation of plastic foams with a combination of japanese tissues and microcrystalline paraffin was used for the conservation of the plastics. Various methods were tested to reduce the thermal decay of the original PVC-insulated wires when they were reconnected to the object, a tin-indium solder was used.
