Abstract: The first part of the paper is dealing with the definitions, which are relevant for the whole examination. After that will follow theoretical aspects about the structure of the surfaces, preventive measures and the cleaning process as well as general aspects about the cleaning textiles. Furthermore there will be explained the structure and characteristics of a selection of fibres and the produced textiles. At the same time their effectiveness and their use considering the process of cleaning will be examined. The second, practical part is the essential part of the paper. It represents the comparing study about effectiveness of the cleaning process with one piece of cloth for each type of fibre. Finally the results of dry and wet cleaning will be compared to the textiles among each other and to the results of the former obtained information.
