Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The late gothic chapel bay in the Rübenacher House of Eltz Castle is one of a few chapel bays with preserved parts of late gothic interior decoration and wall paintings still existing. The original interior decoration was carried out in secco- technique with binding materials based on protein as well as on oil. During the 19th century it was completely repainted. Due to differences of tension between the various paint layers, loss of material appears. By re-cording the various paint layers and their condition, and by assessing the causes of damage a concept for the conservation was created.
