Abstract: | The baroque wall paintings (around 1770) are damaged by a rough uncovery, water and salt infiltration and inappropriate application of restoration materials such as synthetic resins and silicic acid esters. A conservation-restoration concept for the entire room decoration was developed. On representative sample areas methods for desalination, removal of synthetic resin coatings and residues of silicic acid esters were demonstrated. Also the aesthetic appearance of the paintings could be improved by partial uncovery of overworked layers. |
