Abstract: | The Herzogin Anna Amalia Library in Weimar has been serious damaged by fire on the night of September the 2nd to 3rd. The principal item of the building, the so called Rococohall was also affected on all three floors. The painted surfaces of his wooden architecture show water stains because of the pentrated water for extinguish the fire. The aim of this diploma thesis was to develop a conception for restoring an intact painted surface of this Rococo‐Hall. Main focus is exposure to the obtained paintwork with stain due to water spotting. There should be found solutions for the conservation of the historical stock of paintwork. At the same time the planned new coat of paint must be enabled by the results. The paintwork should regard to the history of the library. Therefore several versions of a new paintwork were tested and discussed. They are based on further investigations about the ancient stock, additionally to the existing perceptions. |
