Overview:

Abstract: This project is based on the results of treatment to damaged altar wings, with painting on both sides.
Research was undertaken during an earlier internship and continued into a Diploma. The different
stages, and previous restoration work on both panels, present conservation, restoration and
aesthetic problems. Conservation and restoration work, based on a treatment proposal, was
undertaken and this paper describes it. Research was carried out on the original altar piece. An
evaluation of primary documents proved the possibility that a Madonna belonged to the altar. An
interesting issue regarding the ornaments was discovered during research of other altars from the
same period.
