Overview:

Abstract: Basic issues of the present thesis are the object and material specific research and the evolution of
a corresponding conservation concept, for two vessel glasses belonging to the Museum für
Angewandte Kunst Köln. By means of different standards for both glasses, regarding to capable
materials and methods, different possibilities of gluing were shown and discussed initially.
Particular emphasis was therefore laid on recent UV‐hardening adhesives, regarding to their
suitability on sensitive glasses and as alternative for the hardly reversible epoxy resins. According
to an intended exhibition, a representable stabilisation‐system of the preserved fragments was
explored. Referring to the varying conditions, several opportunities were exposed and
respectively realised for this purpose. Finally a good solution was found for the two vessels,
satisfying both protective and aesthetical demands.
