Abstract: | The architecture model of the Fünfgiebelhaus in Rostock is made of celluloid that is partly painted with dispersion paint. Celluloid is a plastic produced of nitrocellulose and camphor. The object demonstrate its damage particularly in nitrates - crystallized on the surface and deliquesced -, teared windows and discolouration of the dispersion paint. In Preparation of an exhibition, where the Fünfgiebelhaus model will be displayed, a concept for conservation and restoration has been established. This includes inter alia considerations about cleaning, consolidation, storage and also retouching. |
