Overview:

Abstract: This Master-Thesis presents a survey of the extent and the condition of a collection of jewellery from the Stadtmuseum Weimar. The objects are works made by goldsmiths during the historical period of historicism. With regard to the arrangement of a pending special exhibition, one piece in a particularly disastrous condition should be restored.
As part of the studies, special working techniques will be illustrated. Afterwards, scientific investigations to determinate the materials will follow. Particular attention is being paid to the question, which construction-technique is most suitable for the self-supporting fragments. In this context, the strength of adhesive bondings is being tested with comparable materials. Afterwards the conservation and restoration of the object is being illustrated. Furthermore, an exhibitions-concept is being presented. In this regard, actions for the preventive conservation are being discussed. Finally, the options of a presentation in the museum are being discussed.
