Overview:

Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the endpaper repairs of the 20th century on books from the library Uffenbach. These books belong to the collections of the library SUB Göttingen.
The goal is to show the risk assessment and conservation options. At the beginning, an overview of the endpaper is given. It describes the function, construction, structure, materials and properties of the endpaper. Afterwards the library Uffenbach will be presented and the endpaper repairs of the books will be explained in detail. As an example, two books have been selected to highlight the different methods used to restore endpapers. Furthermore, the assessment was carried out of the states of the endpaper repairs.
The risk assessment was given from the point of view of the design and the materials of the endpapers. Likewise, criteria are set up to make the state of the endpapers clearer. On the basis of the risks and criteria found, recommendations are given that are related to conservation options.
