Michael Loacker: "Female Nude" from Fritz Krcal, 1937, Vorarlberg Provincial Museum. Material mixture on canvas back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Part of this Diploma thesis was the examination and the treatment of this painting. It now belongs to the collection of the “Vorarlberger Landesmuseum” in Bregenz and consists of two completed images, which are painted one on the top of the other. The reason for the seperation of the different paint layers is because of the experimental and unique painting technique of the artist. Scientific examinations of the inherent materials, particularly the binding agents and their admixtures braught interesting results. They were compared with additional information found in a recept book in the artist’s estate. The conservation deals with the development of a methodology appropriate to this special painting.
