Roberta Renz: Reverse glass paintings from the Collection of the Castle Museum in Freistadt back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Most of the glasses are dated in the 19th century and are original from Southern Bohemia and Upper Austria. Before starting with the project, a condition report was undertaken, which included the techniques of the glass manufacture and subsequent damages. Examinations included not only binding media, pigments, metal leaf applications and glass components, but also certain special types of damages. The advantage and disadvantages of possible methods for conservation and restoration appropriate to this specific collection were discussed, then a selected method was applied on three objects with different problems as an example.
